The Catholic Charities Diocese of Lubbock will hold a free Easter egg hunt on Friday at Lloyd C. Woods Park in Plainview. The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.and and Joliette. There will be food and prizes. Participants are encouraged to bring their own baskets. A Southwest Parkinson Society information booth will also be set up. This is a collaborative project of the FAYS, Kinship and NFSH programs. This event will be on a first come, first served basis. Visitors are also encouraged to wear blue in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be hosting fish frying events throughout the Lenten season. The final event is scheduled for April 8. Each event will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those who make a purchase have a choice of a fish plate, a shrimp plate — both for $10 — or a combo plate with fish, shrimp and corn for $14. Cash, checks and card payments are accepted. Events are drive-thru only.
Covenant Health has made another adjustment to its visitation policies. Masks are mandatory on every campus for anyone 2 years of age or older. Visitor guidelines are different at each regional campus. Non-COVID patients may have four visitors per 24 hour period at Covenant Health Plainview and COVID patients may have up to two visitors per day.
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg will host a Fish Fry event every Friday until Lent. Plates will be sold from 11 a.m. while supplies last every Friday for pickup only. A four-week virtual summit on big ministry in small towns hosted by Baptists in Texas is set to begin in April. The following presentations are scheduled for 6:00 pm on the following dates: April 20 – Mobilizing the Small Town Church for Large Missions and Ministry; April 27 – Confronting Cultural Christianity in Small Towns; May 4 – Restoring the Glory: Breathing New Life in the Rural Black Church; May 11 – Remembering our call. The Lighthouse Apostolic Church, 1504 Houston in Plainview, invites the public to pray at the church from 6-7 p.m. each Friday. You do not need to be a church member to attend and pray. Our Lady of Guadalupe offers a soup kitchen through the cafeteria once a month. A soup kitchen coordinator said it was run by the church’s CCD program. It helps involved children earn community service credits. Delivery is available. The soup kitchen is usually offered on the third Saturday of the month. Meals are served from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 211 W. Seventh Street.
The Plainview Dance Club holds dances at the Elks Lodge every first, second and fourth Thursday from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The Elks Lodge is located at 908 N. I-27. Meetings include weekly musical entertainment each evening. There are no snacks. The event is open to everyone. Membership fees are $5 for members, $7 for non-members, or $10 for a one-year membership.
